Offboarding/leaving the lab
- You’re off! Oh, the places you’ll go! Before you say your hopefully fond farewells, there are a few pieces of housekeeping business to take care of, outside of your thesis/dissertation submission.
- Decide how you want people to contact you in the future (e.g. a personal or new institution address). Add that to your e-mail signature!
- Optional: Export your e-mails and other Google data (e.g. your calendar, drive) and reupload to another account to ensure you have longterm access to any information you may need. Jae usually keeps your SEOE e-mail active for two years, unless you do not want it. You can e-mail him to deactivate it at anytime ([email protected] or [email protected]).
- Clean out your desk so that a future student can use it. Let Katherine know about any files you’re leaving behind (e.g. graded labs, well organized and labeled paper copies of surveys).
- Return your keys to the main SEOE office (or Katherine).
